Pointscapes
Arts Letters and Numbers, Sina Erol, 2023
Pointscapes is part of the ongoing documentary work on archiving moments, time, color, and history. The body of work consists of a series of photogrammetric collages capturing various moments of decay, light, and color conditions in the span of three months in Upstate, New York. Each collage is a combination of multiple three-dimensional spaces. Each space is documented by 3D scanning and stripped away of all lines and surfaces, leaving behind millions of points carrying color codes. These point clouds are integrated into final collages to emphasize an unconventional way of looking at our surrounding environment and physical space as dynamic/momentary compositions if color and light instead of mass and form while documenting physical space and time in digital space.
